One way is to first login to your paypal account. Click on the "Merchant Services" tab and then on "Buy Now Button". Enter the relevant information such as price, item name and image choice. If you want to specify a webpage for a successful transaction, scroll down and click "more options". Next, find the feild "Successful Payment URL" and fill it in. This is where you want to send people after they paid, like a download page (aka thank you page).

Then when you have all the information entered for your Buy Now button entered, click "Create button now".
And you're done!

To make a paypal payment process for your website on your own without having to login to paypal, you can use the following technique.

1. Make a new page named order.html (or anything you choose really).

2. Copy and Paste the following HTML code into order.html:

3. Edit the appropriate values. Any number including decimals for ITEM_PRICE. A full URL for both the PRODUCT_DELIVERY_URL and URL_FOR_ABORTED_PAYMENTS, your paypal email address and the item name. Save and then upload the file "order.html"to your site.

4. Link any text or image to order.html and the link will take your visitor directly to paypal to purchase your product. When they finish paying at paypal, the customer will automatically be redirected to your product delivery URL.

This method of making a paypal button allows you to instantly turn any text or image into a payment link which isn't possible using method # 1.
