This is a followup article for Build Your List And Make Money With Affiliate Products.
You can build an email list of targeted prospects for any niche and make money (a commission) without having to own the product or website you are advertising to your leads. This is affiliate marketing and is a great place to start since it’s easier then setting up resell rights products. Here I want to talk a bit about resell rights products and how you can use them to make money while you build your list.
Resell Rights products are essentially already prepackaged website which usually include the following:
- The digital product - Can be one of many things including ebooks, software, videos, audios.. etc..
- Website files and graphics that make up the sales page.
- A reseller agreement which tells you how you can use the files and any limitations. This is just an example:

Now here’s the BIG reason why you should take the time to integrate a resell rights product on your website. You earn all of the sales, 100%, no more 75%, 50% or less that you get with affiliate programs. It will also enable you to setup an instant offer after someone signs up for your list via your newsletter, blog, or squeeze page. This is sometimes referred to as an OTO. You need to upload the resell rights product to your site and edit it so that you are now the owner of the product. Offer it to your list and take direct payments to whatever merchant account you want to use (I use paypal). Just make sure that the order process works smoothly on your site. I wrote a little tip on how to code paypal onto your site HERE.
Im getting a bit tired and I think Ill write some more on this topic a bit later. I know towards the end I wasn;t very detailed so if you want me to elaborate on something let me know so that I can address it in my next post.

At the very beginning of this article, I want to tell you about a horrible mistake I have been making lately. I have been neglecting the place where 70% - 90% of most Internet profits come from.
I would normally keep a mistake like this to myself, but I also recognize that probably 9 out of every 10 of my readers are making the exact same mistake. This just shouldn’t be happening. My business is extremely profitable, but by neglecting this one technique I have been ignoring tens of thousands of dollars in additional profits.
The direct marketing rule that I been neglecting to give attention to lately is that of backend selling. I know and have taught backend selling to thousands of Internet businesses, but in the past 6 months of my own business I have been letting it slide.
For my business this means that I am ignoring additional profit centers. For many Internet businesses which aren’t as profitable as mine this one mistake could easily spell the death of their entire endeavor.
To give you a quick idea of just how profitable backend selling can be for your business, let’s give the following example.
Let’s say you are in an information business selling a low cost audio tape set and a larger video package. The first product you have sells for $50.00 (and costs $25.00 for drop shipping from the owner) while your second package sells for $300.00 (and costs $150.00 drop shipping from the owner).
If the first product you sell to customers sells for $50.00 and costs you $25.00 to fulfill, you have $25.00 potential earnings from it where you have to pay advertising expenses from. If it costs you on average $20.00 advertising expense for each new customer, you would only be earning a $5.00 profit on every new customer.
What would happen if you included a sales letter for your $300.00 course in every $50.00 package people bought?
If 1 out of every 5 customers you brought in on the first product would also buy your second product for $300.00, you would be earning an extra $150.00 off of every 5 customers. Your front end profits would have been $25.00 for these 5 customers and your backend profits would have been $150.00 without spending more than a couple of cents extra for the sales letter included in the packages.
You would only be earning $25.00 a day in your startup Internet business is you were selling 5 packages a day. Once you add in your backend product, your profits jump up to $175.00 a day!
For many businesses, having a backend product determines whether your business succeeds or not. You must have a specific backend in mind whenever you are planning your web site, choosing a product, or designing a product.
On the Internet, it is so easy to come up with backend products! If you don’t own any additional products or services to place on a backend, then you can simply join an affiliate program with a high quality product or find a business owner who will drop ship products for you.
There are thousands of companies out there which have affiliate programs or who drop ship for you. All you have to do is search for “drop shipping” or “affiliate” and thousands upon thousands of sites will come up.
If you see someone who has a product you would like to sell, see if they will set up a drop shipping program just for you. This type would often end up being the most profitable for you since you wouldn’t be competing with thousands of other affiliates.
The key to backend profits in your business is to actually start doing something. So, I have included 4 easy ways your Internet business can start profiting from backend selling today!
Four ways any Internet business can easily start making backend sales immediately…
1. Point of purchase
The absolute best point for a backend offer on any sale is right after the initial sale while the customer still has their credit card out. For example, whenever I go buy a pair of shoes it always seems like once you have the shoes picked out the salesperson will then ask you if you would like laces, polish, etc.
If you go buy a suit, then they ask if you would like dress shirts, ties, etc. Any smart retailer will figure out what other products they have that naturally go with the purchases most often being made. Then, they will offer an up-sell immediately at the point of sale.
How can you apply this to your Internet business? The easiest method and the most profitable is to offer the up-sell right after your customer has made their purchase and still has their credit card out. In other words, put the additional product or products on the thank you page right after the purchase is made through your secure order forms.
At that point, your customer has their credit card out and is in a buying mood. By listing one to three similar products on this page, you should be able to increase your overall sales by 10% - 30% immediately.
2. With product delivery
The second key time to send a backend offer is when the products are shipped. Wise marketers throw in a catalog of other products and services they offer with every order.
Possibly offer a 30 day special coupon in the package. If they order something else from you within thirty days they get $10.00 off or 10% off or something similar to this. Just remember that there has to be some incentive to ordering now.
If you have someone else fulfilling the order for you by drop shipping out the products, then just send out your own thank you letter with the backend offer enclosed.
3. Follow-up
You should send out follow-up sales letters to all of your current customers. Top direct marketers report that it is 7 times as easy to sell to an existing customer than it is to develop a new one. Put the odds to work for you instead of against you and start selling more to your current customers.
The correct time to send out this letter depends on what you sell. If you sell a consumable product such as food, nutritional, body care, etc., then you send out the letter whenever the average customer will run out of the current supply.
If you sell other types of products, then the correct time will often be around every 3 months. Newsletter publishers will often advertise a new product in each new issue of the publication that goes out. It all depends on your products and your customers. Learn the correct time frame for sending out letters based on testing.
4. Leads that don’t buy from you
Here is an area that most Internet marketers don’t even consider, but it could quickly become a new profit center for your business. What do you do with those leads who contact you but don’t end up buying?
In most businesses, they just throw them away. The smart marketer who wants to get maximum profit out of every second of their time and out of every dollar they spend will put these leads to use also.
They are obviously interested in what you are selling since something you had caused them to originally contact you for more information. They didn’t want to buy your product, but what if you offer another similar product or service to them instead once you have finished your regular follow-up system for your main product.
This is definitely an area that you need to start testing out. You could also try working with another marketer who sells a similar product and work out a lead trade. You will offer your product to his leads that weren’t sold and he will offer his to your leads you couldn’t sell. Since the cost of follow-up online is virtually nothing, this type of additional profit center is definitely something every business should look into.
The question I am going to ask you is, “Are You Going to Leave 70% - 90% Of Your Profits Behind?”
Above are four simple techniques you can use to start making more profits out of your online business. What are you going to do about it? The most successful website (in terms of sales volume) I have created so far is Install Website Scripts Videos. The product is a set of video tutorials that goes through installing 5 different website scripts from scratch to finish. It shows how to get these scripts and most any others installed using the cpanel interface that most webhosting services provide. The product is created by Ameer Salim (on my blogroll) and I purchased the rights to resell his product.
Now when I began making the website I never even considered SEO as I already had a target audience on my email marketing list. I also had other means of advertising to potential prospects without the use of the search engines or using adwords. It’s only recently (a couple months ago) that I realized my site is very highly ranked for many relevant keywords and phrases. I’ve also been getting sales notifications from my website and it says the source is google.
I think there are a few reasons why my website is highly ranked in google.
1. My domain name has very good keywords in it installscriptsvideos.com
2. Shortly after I finished the site I wrote a short article on how to install scripts in 5 steps and submitted it to ezinearticles.com, ehow.com and maybe a few others. Once those were published, my site was indexed quickly since I had my link in the author bio.
3. I had custom graphics work done so that my site didn’t look like others who also bought resell rights to the product. this cost me 140$.
4, On my sales page, there are many repeated keywords that prospects will use in google to search for a site like mine. Many are bold font.
5. I make sure to put an ALT tag on all images (eg <img src=”imageURL” alt=”keywords”>)
6. On any link that is followed from my main site, that goes to another page in my site, I try to make sure there is a link to go back to the main site.
7. Im not sure about this one but I have an affiliate program and other website owners put my banners and link on their site in hopes for a commission. I use the RAP script for this feature of my site and I am glad to report that using this affiliate script doesn’t have any negative impacts on search engine placement.
I don’t consider myself an SEO expert but I have achieved top rankings for one of my sites under search terms like “install scripts”, “learn how to install scripts”, “install website scripts”, “how to install scripts”, and more. In my website stats ‘awstats’ it shows many many keywords that people use to get to my website through google and other search engines. I get over 1000 visitors form the search engines a month which I think is pretty good and gives me true residual income.
I think you can do the same for any small niche. Just get a basic understanding of website building + management and try and get your links on popular directories and websites. My best method to succeed as an affiliate and make lots of commissions is to build email lists. The goal is to be able to stay in contact with a group of people who are interested in what you have to offer. The reason it’s so important to build mailing lists is because it is highly effective free advertising that is always there and growing. It’s a so called “hot market” which you are creating yourself.
- “The money is in the list” -
You see it everywhere and it has definitively proved to be true. Yet, there are so many wrong ways to build your list that it is easy for people to fall into the false advertising trap. I would highly discourage buying outside mailing lists (aka optin leads). You must create one yourself through your own advertising efforts and on your own website or blog. I gather a lot of leads by giving away free reports on a subject that interests my site visitors.
These are essential tools for creating your own highly responsive email list:
- Autoresponder Service. Make sure the service you use has a good deliverability rate. I recommend EmailAces and Aweber
- Lead Capture Page (aka squeeze page). This is your first point of contact with a prospect, make your page attention grabbing. The only goal here is to get the visitors name and email address. You will do this by offering something of value for free. Say you want to promote a healthcare product. You can type up a short report describing 5 daily habits to keep you healthy and fit. - Message Series. This is the content delivered to your lead through email. Don’t push too hard to sell anything, just give valuable information and suggest products that will help your list members achieve what they want. You will create your message series with whichever autoresponder service you decide to go with.
You must design your lead capture page and message series to interest your target audience, people who will eventually buy from you. The message series should be as long as possible without repeating the same topics. This is a way to filter out the people who are not interested in your product, service or business opportunity. Then the list of people who have finished the message series are super high quality leads which you can send offers to whenever you want!

This is a post that will interest anyone who is building a marketing list by giving away free downloads on their website.
It’s simple but can be done in just 5 minutes but can easily add hundreds of extra targeted hits to your site per month.
What am I talking about here? Your own readme file! I create my own readme files to all the free downloads I giveaway. I simply describe what’s in the download and provide any instructions or additional information that will help the end user (the prospect that is downloading from you). Just use a plain text editor (notepad will do) and save it. To get traffic, make sure you put your website as your signature in this file. Then include it into the file you’re giving away by archiving the reading file you just created along with the rest of the download.
TIP: You can also include webpages in the file by going to the site you want in the download, then save page as (from the file menu) and save it into the folder you are going to compress and giveaway.

Join Traffic Python Free!
Traffic Python is a new site that says it guarantees more CONVERTING web visitors and online advertising with very little effort or cost. So I decided to put it to the test…
My first impression was the site looks professional and clean, with an attractive look and feel. It is easy to read and understand. Joining the site was easy and painless–they do offer 2 upgrade options but they are not required to gain the benefits.
The Members Area is very well laid out and intuitive–I could figure out what to do after only a few minutes and was able to get up & running in less than 5 minutes. Inside the site, you create links and ads–the links you simply enter any URL links you use into the generator and it transforms them into “Python links”. Here is an example of a Traffic Python Link (click the link). You create ads for anything you want to promote using the Python Ad Generator, which is very easy to use. You can create as many links and as many ads as you like. And they are organized in a logical way–links are displayed in the order you create them but also your 5 most recent links appear on the main page for quick reference. Also, since the link generator is the tool you’ll use most, it is also right at the top of the main page when you login. Very smart!
After you’ve created at least 1 link and 1 ad you can start to generate traffic. Just use and promote the new Traffic Python link instead of the original source link you had. Every time the Python link is clicked, the page loads followed by a cool slide-up ad window at the bottom. It displays an ad PLUS an image with your affiliate link that goes back to Traffic Python. So if anyone clicks the Python image they see the site, and if they signup they become your referral. It’s a great viral feature because you can build referrals without even trying to just by using the site.
Now every time the ad window displays (your Python links get clicked) you earn credits that get YOUR ad displayed in the ad windows when other members’ links get clicked. So the more clicks, the more times your ads get displayed.
And this works virally–meaning as you make referrals into Traffic Python (either by promoting it or just using it and visitors click the Python image on the ad window to join) you also earn ad credits on THEIR link clicks. And this works up to 5 levels deep. So you can create a massive amount of free ad views and web traffic by referring others to Traffic Python also.
I didn’t get to test the full effect of a big downline yet (I just got the tool) but I can tell you the rest of the site works exactly as stated–my links got clicked, I earned credits, and my ads got displayed. Python even tracked my results so I know how many clicks and how many ad displays. That was an impressive unadvertised extra feature.
There is one more benefit and feature which might be the best of them all–downline emailing. You can email your downline with offers, promotions, or whatever you like, and here is where Python really shines. They took time to make the emailing often enough that it’s valuable as a user, but no so often that it’s a burden to your downline. But the best part about this feature (and actually the credit earning too) is that it tells you exactly how long until you can mail again. Now THAT’s cool.
Overall I have to say I am impressed with Traffic Python. It is simple yet powerful, and delivers on its promises. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to increase traffic and advertising.

4 - login to the admin interface (webpages) and work with your script or software. All should be intuitive from this point.
5 - Test
Yes it takes a bit of work to make sure everything is installed and works correctly, but once it’s done once you’ll never have to do anything again, just use it. That is the beauty of website scripts and software.
